Indaze Group is a conglomeration of Anil and Shivani Miglani’s restaurant chains. wine and catering business to  soon include a signature line of spices and packaged Indian food products as well as cooking books and national and international services related to the restaurant business. The company evolved from a successful entrepreneurial venture into the restaurant business starting with the purchase of the Subway® franchises. Current, Indaze Group is comprised of:

  • Tandoori Restaurant upscale chain in Clarendon, Virginia.
  • Penang a Malaysian cuisine restaurant in DC
  • Karma a multi cuisine restaurant ( Indian, Indo-chinese, Malaysian) located in Rio center of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
  • Morris Miller wines located in Washington DC carrying 1200 SKU’s of wines, liquors and beers.
  • Soon-to-be launched signature packaged spices and packaged Indian food products

The company is founded on the Miglani’s philosophical belief for excellence in service, cuisine and products. The service at all their restaurants is beyond superb reflecting authentic Indian hospitality and culture in a contemporary setting. Their vision is to share extraordinary culinary experiences through a cultural journey and goodwill. Anil Miglani’s success as a creative entrepreneur, restaurateur and successful architect embodies the full spectrum of the American Dream of immigrants in the United States – and this dream for Anil appears to have no ending – at least not yet.

Anil Miglani

Anil appeared to be destined for success in the culinary world since he grew up in a large restaurant family in New Delhi, India, his birthplace. He observed firsthand the skills needed to run a restaurant business from his three uncles who own and operate fine dining restaurants catering to the politicians, celebrities and dignitaries, including prime ministers and former presidents of India.   However, his creative instincts led him to pursue educational interests in architecture and design. After receiving a Bachelors Degree in Architecture from Punjab University in India, Anil moved to the United States in 1988 to continue his studies, pursuing his Master’s degree in Architecture in Oklahoma and then went on to work with architectural and design firms in the United States. In 1991, He married the vibrant, talented and creative Shivani who had come to United States as a teenager. She complements his talents, creative and business interests.

It was not long before Miglani’s roots in the restaurant business would soon re-emerge.  In 1991, the husband and wife made a decision to purchase their first Subway® franchise in their neighborhood in Maryland. The success of the restaurant led to six more purchases of Subway® franchises and eventually to deeper ventures restaurant ventures such as Tandoori Nights.

Shivani Miglani

As much as Shivani Miglani complements her husband’s talents and skills as an entrepreneur, she also shines with her own creative skills and driving energy – leaving her trademark as one the most successful business woman in every enterprise she takes on with Anil.  Shivani Miglani was born in Patiala, India, moving to the United States with her family as a teenager. From a young age, Shivani showed a strong interest in the culinary arts hosting tea and cookie parties for family and friends.   In 1991, Shivani married Anil Miglani and together they moved to Washington, D.C. with the interest and intent to enter the restaurant industry.   Shivani established a solid grounding in classical Indian cuisine by her hands-on approach in the kitchen combining different flavours and textures through trial and error. During this time, Shivani attended La-Academie De Cuisine for a 24-week program to learn pastry techniques.   She currently serves as the executive chef for Tandoori Nights in Gaithersburg and is overseeing the expanded menu and culinary operations as executive chef of Tandoori Nights in Clarendon. Along with creating the menu, she is also developing the creative cocktail list in the restaurant’s elegant bar.   Shivani and Anil are parents of two children who attend Sidwell Friends School in Washington, DC where the couple also volunteer their time.
